Robert E Powers Jr., age 62 of Springfield, passed away on Saturday June 5, 2010 at his residence.

He married Beverly Lane in 1972. They later divorced. Preceded in death by his parents.

Robert was born on November 9, 1947 in Springfield, IL the son of Robert E and Edna Koopman Powers

He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield, of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, and the Fraternal Order of Police. Robert was recently retired from the Sangamon County Sherriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer after 26 years of service.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Services will be at the funeral home at 11 AM on Thursday, June 10.
