Richard "Dick" Sybert

Richard “Dick” Sybert, age 86, of Athens, passed away on Sunday October 25, 2026 at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Dick was born on November 28, 1939, in Montogomery County, IL, the son of Leslie and Irene (Meyer) Sybert.

He married Ann Keeler on September 30, 1962 in Asbury Methodist Church in Springfield, IL.

Mourning his passing are his wife, Ann; children, Rich (Gay) Sybert and Diane Sybert; sisters, Patricia (Bernie) Schisler and Wanda (Butch) Nichols; grandsons, Ricky (Ashley) Sybert and Stephen Sybert; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ellen Haynes and Donna Claussen; one brother. Russell Sybert; and his beloved dog, Marty.

Dick graduated from Athens High School in 1958.

He retired from Capital Plumbing and Heating after 23 years of service.

Dick was a member of the Athens United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed photography, playing golf, fishing, cooking, and coaching his grandson’s baseball teams. His passion was being with his family.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.

Dick’s wishes were to make an organ/tissue donation to Gift of Hope.
