Robert "Bob" Paul Allen Kinney, 86, of Petersburg, Illinois, passed away on January 17, 2026, peacefully surrounded by his family.
Born February 28, 1939, in Petersburg to Roy and Ellma Kinney, Bob answered the call to serve in the United States Army. After his military service he built a long and steady career, working 28 years at Ideal Industries and later at Lehn & Fink in Lincoln, Illinois. Although he officially retired following his time in Lincoln, Bob remained active in his community, helping neighbors and friends with various projects for many years.
Bob was a devoted family man who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. He was known for his warm generosity, quick sense of humor, and the dependable willingness to lend a hand—qualities that endeared him to family and friends and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He will be missed everyday..!!
He is survived by his wife, Edna (Carpenter) Kinney; his sons Keith (Michelle) Kinney and Brad (Amy Green) Kinney; his daughter Kristy Kinney Metz (Jeremy); five grandchildren; Kolbe Kinney, Brady Kinney, Lucas Kinney, Marissa Metz, Andrew Metz; his brother William "Bill" Kinney of Petersburg; his sister Katie Ex of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings: Glen Brubaker, Glenna Doyle Kinney, Ernie Kinney, Edie Bell Kinney, Junior Kinney, and Emma Reimer Kinney.
Cremation rites will be accorded. No services will be held at this time, per Robert’s request.
