Robert F. Reed, age 85, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born August 12, 1932 in Joppa, Illinois, the son of Paul and Gertrude Ragsdale Reed.
Bob married Constance in South Carolina on November 2, 1978 and spent 40 wonderful years together.
Robert “Bob” is survived by his wife, Constance; sons, Rodney Reed; daughter Robbie (Johnny) Adams; three step-sons, Stephen (Gail) Lott, Robert (Debra) Lott, David (Janeen) Lott; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virgina Andresen; one nephew, Ralph Andresen and grandparents Cassandra and Charlie Rikard.
He owned J&R Monument before coming to Athens. Robert moved the business to Athens in 1983 and he and his wife expanded the business to include trailers, so J&R Monument and Trailers started. The business was ran by Connie and Bob until Connie reached the age of 67. Around the year of 2000, Stephen and Robert Lott, sons of Connie, took over the business and is still being run by them.
Bob really loved to travel.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be held at a later date in Joppa, Illinois.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.

Bobby may be gone but will be remembered in Joppa for many years to come. My best to Robbie and family.

Connie and Rod and family. We remember Bob being so spunky and funny and we know he loved his family. We are so sorry and our thoughts and prayers are with you! Mom, Doris McGuins send condolences as well.

I remember growing up in Joppa and that Bobby was a well known citizen of our fine village. Condolences to his family and friends in Joppa and Athens. He will be missed most assuredly. Rest in peace Bobby Reed. + + +
