Rose “Sis” Christensen, age 75, of Macomb formerly of Athens, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Grand Prairie Estates in Macomb, IL.
She is survived by two sons Marshall “Chris” (Stephanie) Christensen of Bushnell, IL, Mark (Elizabeth) Christensen of Bushnell, IL and daughter Dawn “Iodine” (Chuck Galman) Christensen of Springfield, IL; two sisters Linda (Delbert) Weidhuner of Athens, Sharon (Butch) Mester of Athens; one brother Charles “Butch” (Linda) Pierceall of Athens; eight grandchildren Andrea Warden, Alicia Robbins, Josh Christensen, Brittany Christensen, Elizabeth Hinton, Cody Christensen, Clay Christensen, Carson Christensen; four great-grandchildren Aiden, Liam, Piper, and Cole; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1990, one infant daughter Marsha Lorraine, her parents, two sisters Mary Lynn and Betty Pierceall, and one brother Herb Pierceall. Rose was born April 22, 1939 in Athens, the daughter of Marshall “Newt” and Alta “Topsy” (Bushong) Pierceall.
She married Kenneth Christensen in Menard County.
Rose graduated from Athens Community High School in 1957.
Rose was the first woman welder at Fiat Allis Production Plant in Springfield, part owner of Triple R café in Athens, and an avid gambler and loved quilting. She loved making memories with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 AM : 12 Noon on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Mott and Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL with a memorial service to follow at 12 noon.
Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Children’s Hospital of Illinois Congenital Heart Center, 530 NE Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, IL 61637.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery near Petersburg, IL
