Dirk Allan Sakalis, age 17, of Athens passed away August 4, 2008 in Bloomington.

Surviving by: Parents – Don and Paula Sakalis of Athens Step-sister : Christina (Mark) Rounds of Elgin, IL Grandmother : Rosemary Sakalis of Des Plaines, IL Aunt : Pat Piechur Uncles : Jeff & John Sakalis and Bill, Dale, Richard & Robert Dirks

Niece : Madison Ten Cousins Dirk was born August 24, 1990, in Springfield, IL, the son of Don and Paula Dirks Sakalis.

He was employed by Ozark House in Bloomington.

Dirk graduated from Normal Community West High School in the spring of 2008.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Athens, where he was baptized and confirmed.

Dirk enjoyed music, cooking, and making jewelry. He also loved to play basketball.

Visitation will be held Friday at 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

Services will be held Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Athens at 10:30 AM.
