Sandra Carter

Sandra Carter, age 74, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at her son’s residence.  She was born September 24, 1942 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of Orlin and Dorothy (Wall) Jacobs.

Sandy married John “Jack” Carter on August 28, 1965 in Springfield.  He preceded her in death on September 17, 1998.

She is survived by one son, Jim (Cindy) Carter of Athens; one daughter, Kathy (Larry) Brennan of Jacksonville; three grandsons, David and Jack Gottschalk and John Carter; one granddaughter, Katie Carter; one brother, Jim (Marnokia) Jacobs of Pana, IL; one sister, Arlene Allwardt of Watertown, SD; one sister in law, Deloris (Don) Phillips of Athens; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sandy is preceded in death by both parents and her twin sister, Sue Caauwe.

For most of her life, Sandra was a homemaker. She also worked at the Illinois Department of Revenue for several years.

Sandy was a member of the Athens Christian Church.

She loved her church studies and crocheting.

Visitation for Sandy will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 9-11 AM at the Athens Christian Church. Funeral service will immediately follow at 11 AM.

Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.

Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
