Scott Richardson, age 60, of Springfield, passed away on December 4, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his brother, Greg Richardson (Diane); his niece, Erin Greer (Bill); nephew, Charles Weyhenmeyer (Erica) as well as great nieces and nephews, Ella, Harper, Benjamin and Luke.
Scott is preceded in death by his parents.
He was born in Springfield, IL on August 17, 1955 the son of William and Mary Lou (Biggs) Richardson.
Scott graduated Williamsville High School. He then later graduated from University of Illinois Springfield with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He was a member of the Insurance Regulatory Examiners’ Society. Scott also attained his FLMI and other insurance industry designations.
He worked for 25 years with the Illinois Department of Insurance in various positions. During that time, he also worked for the Illinois State Police, Division of Operations as a fraud investigator. Scott was a very passionate man when it came to his occupation. He was an advocate for fair and equitable treatment for both consumers and insurance carries.
He loved to swim, growing tomatoes was his passion, and most of all, loved his family.
Instead of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation for Scott will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 9:30-11AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL. Services will immediately follow at 11 AM.
Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.
Pastor Tom Christell will be officiating.
