September Shipman

September Shipman, age 70, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at her residence.

She was born on September 23, 1955, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of James and Nancy (Polk) Meadows.

September married John Shipman, Jr. and they were married for 18 years.

Mourning her passing are her daughter, Andria (husband Doug) Wentzel; two grandchildren, John Montgomery and Jaylen Walls; beloved friend, Marsha (husband Craig) Ballow and their children, Bubba, Dylan, and Dakota; and her two dogs, Bubba and Barney.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her companion, Stanley Kitchens; and daughter, Erica Shipman-Walls.

September graduated from Lanphier High School. She later attended Lincoln Land Community College.

She worked for General Casualty in Springfield for 29 years. She was also a seamstress for many years.

September was a proud member of ABATE and enjoyed motorcycle riding.

She was an avid animal lover.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
