Katherine Marie Rathsack Sherman, born August 21, 1923 on a farm two miles from Greenview, IL, a town of 750 people, passed away on November 11, 2010.

Kay attended a one-room schoolhouse to receive her first 8 years of education and then attended high school in Petersburg, IL. Then Kay attended the University of Illinois in Champaign, where she received her degree in journalism. While there, she met William G. Sherman, whom she married on Sept. 7, 1946.

After graduation, she worked in advertising, selling, creating and writing ads. They resided in Chicago, where their daughter Laura Sherman was born. The family moved to Miami, FL, where they both worked for Latin American Mission for 10 years.

During their retirement years in Miami, Kay regularly attended church as she did faithfully as a young child and all through her college years in Chicago, always confident that she was a Christian.

While in Chicago, God lead them to a church that was faithfully teaching the Scripture. After some time, she realized that she had never received Christ as her Savior. In John 1:12, To as many who have received Him.

Kay is survived by her husband of 64 years, William; daughter, Laura of Chicago and a cousin John Sachtlben of Springfield, IL.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 12:00 until 1:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home, with burial to follow at 1:30 PM at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview, IL. Memorials can be made to Kendall Presbyterian Church or Latin American Mission of Miami FL.
