Robert R. Skaggs, age 75 of Athens formerly of New Berlin, died Tuesday June 12 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was the loving father of eight children with V. Roberta: Nicholas R. II(Lynn) Skaggs, Nancy (Butch) Homeier, Kash (Rhonda) Skaggs, Penny (Ernest) Williams, Jeffrey (Monica) Skaggs, Elizabeth (David) Smith, Gail Weiskopf, Christine (John) Phillips. Nine Grandchildren Several Great grandchildren

Mr. Skaggs was born November 6, 1931 in Springfield, IL. the son of Nicholas R. and Myrtle Schmidt Skaggs.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a beloved brother William Henry Skaggs who had served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Skaggs was a member of Carpenters Local #16 for over 56 yrs. He owned and operated Skaggs Construction Company with his father Nick for many years.

Visitation will be held from 8:30AM until 9:30 AM on Friday at Mott & Henning Funeral Home with graveside services following held at Oak Ridge Cemetery at 10:00AM.
