Thomas Gardner, age 63, of Athens, passed away on May 27, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. .
He is survived by his wife, Terri Gardner, three sons; Alan, Jon, and Tony Gardner, two sisters; Phyllis McCarter and Janice Nicason, and several nieces and nephews.
Thomas was born June 22, 1951 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of John and Flossie Gardner.
Thomas served as a United States Marine from 1970-1974.
Thomas married Terri on May 1, 1982 in Petersburg.
He worked as a plant supervisor for Ideal Industries for 23 years, and a building operating engineer for SIU School of Medicine for 10 years.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015 from 2pm- 4pm at the Boar’s Nest on Route 29 in Athens.
