Thurman Ingram, age 88 of Cantrall, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter Rebecca (Edward) Kirby of Easton; a son Jerry Ingram of Beardstown; step-children Sara (Kevin) Killebrew of Greenview, DeAnn (Jason) Hoard of St. Charles, MO, Eric (Tasha) Evers of Balitmore, MD, and John (Michelle) Evers of Lincoln; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters Donna Moss of Athens and Beatrice (Wayne) Michalik of Benld, one brother Dale (Rosalie) Ingram of Athens, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death his first wife Mary Ellen in January 2004, a son Toby in August of 1994.
He was born on May 1, 1926 in Athens, the son of Thurman and Kittie (Stone) Ingram.
Thurman married Mary Ellen Bennett on March 19, 1950 and then later married Sharon Evers on April 29, 2006.
He graduated from Athens High School and he served as a Sergeant in the United States Army.
Thurman became a Deacon in 1950 and was an Elder at Athens Christian Church since 1975. He was a current member of the Cantrall Village board, Athens VFW, past member of the Athens American Legion, and founder of the “Oatmeal Gang”.
Visitation will be held on Thursday June 5, 2014 at the Athens Christian Church from 4:00 until 7:00 PM and where funeral services will be held on Friday June 6, 2014 at 10:00 AM.
Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
Memorials can be made to Athens Christian Church or the Toby J. Ingram Athens FFA Alumni Memorial Scholarship.
