Marion B. VanMeter, 93, of Springfield, IL passed away on September 6, 2009 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Fancy Creek Cemetery near Sherman, IL. Mott & Henning Funeral Home will be assisting her family with the arrangements.

Marion was born on February 26, 1916 in Pentwater, MI, the daughter of Louie C. McKean and Ruth Eleanor Stephens McKean. A graduate of Athens high school, Marion then moved to Springfield, IL to pursue a career as a secretary in the Insurance Industry. She married George VanMeter on February 21, 1942 at the Athens United Methodist Church. She loved playing the piano, needlework and dancing. Marion was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Springfield, IL.

Marion is preceded in death by her husband George in 1998 and three brothers- Louis, Don and Jim McKean. Survivors are her sister Jane Perkins of Niceville, FL, and sister-in-laws : Alice McKean, Bebe McKean, Mildred McKean and fourteen nieces and nephews.
