William “Bill” Bryant, age 84, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, William “Bill” Allen (wife Debbie), Marla Sue Lewis, and Cathy Bryant; two grandchildren, Alexander Bryant and Clayton Lewis; a brother, Ronnie Bryant; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Scooter and Buddy.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maurine Bryant; step-father, Orville Denton; grandparents, Mary and Marion Ferguson; a brother, Walter Bryant; and uncle, Allen Ferguson.
He was born on January 11, 1932 in Athens, Illinois the son of Charles and Maurine Bryant.
He married Carolyn Hamlin on August 20, 1961 at the Athens Christian Church.
Bill attended Athens High School.
He served for the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1951-1952.
Bill worked for Fiat-Allis for 34 years as a Rework Drill Operator until closing in 1984. He was a janitor for the Cantrall Elementary School for 8 years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 9:30 AM also at the funeral home.
Rev. Don Niesler will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery.
