William Wolf, age 91, of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday March 28, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born March 16, 1930 the son of Walter and Irene (Minzes) Wolf.
He married Eula Dake on April 1, 1951.
William is survived by his wife, Eula; a son, Steven Wolf; daughters, Velva Jean Cole, Teresa Day, Carolyn (Jim) Foutch, Dena Wolf, and Tina (George) Carpenter; 72 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Jesse Wolf; a sister, Lena Elfline; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a son, William; daughter, Maurene Green; son-in-law, Ed Day; two brothers, Henry and Frank; and six sisters, Bertha, Olive, Wanda, Marie, Alice, and Anna Mae.
He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Petersburg.
William enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and taking care of animals, especially horses. He loved being outdoors.
He worked as a farmer for over 30 years in the Petersburg area. After farming, he retired from the State of Illinois at New Salem State Park near Petersburg.
Visitation for William will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 12:00 Noon until time of funeral services at 1:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Burial will be held at Joe Hall Cemetery in Athens. Rev. Delbert Penrod will officiate.
