Zelda Coady, age 100, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Springfield, Illinois.

She was born on December 25, 1925, in Wagner, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Verna (Boston) Woodall.

Zelda married Robert Coady on July 21, 1950, and together they shared many years of marriage and family.

Mourning her passing are her son, Rod (wife Judi) Coady; daughter, Lori Bell; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) McCormick, Kim (Gabe) Alderman, Kari (Josh) Hudgins, Robert (Jessica) Coady, Coady (Skylar) Bell, Kenton (Abby) Bell, Shane Turner, and Kristi Saladino; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; devoted friend, Deana Ryan; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Coady; parents, Robet and Verna Woodall; daughter, Jeri Ann Daily; son-in-law, Brian Bell; sisters, Margaret Woodall and Eva Schneeberg; and brothers, Dale Woodall and Robert "Butch" Woodall.

Zelda graduated from Waggoner High School in Waggoner, Illinois. She was employed by Sangamo Electric Company and was a dedicated homemaker to her family.

She was a faithful member of Sherman United Methodist Church.

Zelda found great joy in quilting, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as "Grandma Cookies." She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and especially treasured watching them finally win the World Series in her lifetime. She also enjoyed working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Visitation for Zelda will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Burial will immediately follow at Fancy Creek Cemetery near Sherman, Illinois.
